Craving the desire to dress and feel like a Socialite? Look no further than Society Femme. This one stop shop carries an array of styles and designers. With two stores in one (Society Men next door), you can dress your entire family without the headache of the mall. This gem of a store has all you need from fancy maxi dresses to casual jeans. Society Femme prides itself in having all different shapes and sizes, which tailors to everyone’s needs. I got the chance to catch up with the owner and a few sales associates to get the dets on this happening boutique.

Name: MaryAlice Farella

Role: Owner, Society Femme and Society Men

CollegeFashionista: Why did you want to open your own store?

MaryAlice Farella: I’ve known since I was a little girl that I wanted to open my own store. Since I was four my mom would take me to specialty shops, and my love grew from there.

CF: What is unique about Society Femme?

MAF: Having both of my stores right next to each other with a connection in between makes it pretty unique. I opened the men’s store in 2006 because I hated going shopping for my husband. I could never find the right his size for him, No one should be deprived of good quality clothing because of his or her weight, height or age. Being 6’0 tall, I know what it feels like. I wanted to create a destination where the entire family could shop. I want to provide good quality, super soft fabric with personalized service without the headache of a mall.

CF: What’s the best thing about owning your own business?

MAF: I love it all! I love the clients; most of them I have been dressing for 30 years. Everyone keeps coming back. I’m dressing three generations of families.

CF: What trends are you seeing in the store, and what are your best sellers?

MAF: Athletic wear is really big right now. We are known for carrying the brand Monrow; we have our own section for them. Some other top selling brands are Hartford, AG and James Perse. We sell mostly European and U.S. designers.
