AROUND TOWN: Brooklynn Lowrey

Even though Elon University is located too, too far away from the fashion capitals of the country, it still has a handful of student designers and bloggers who are changing the style scene of the South. It’s incredible when people are able to use fashion styling and writing as a means of expression, and this polka-dot rocking Fashionista is no exception. Brooklynn dedicates her time to The Edge magazine on campus, where she spends lots of time capturing the street style of the most fashion forward students, and she has a trendy blog on her fashion and shopping favorites!

Name: Brooklynn Lowrey

Role: Student Designer/Blogger and Assistant Fashion Editor at The Edge magazine

CollegeFashionista: When did you create Brooklynn Street and what was your inspiration?

Brooklyn Lowrey: I always had the idea to create a brand and image around my name. I officially started it a year ago when I was having a hard time in high school, and I needed to work on something creative that was for me.

CF: What’s your favorite part about working with The Edge Magazine?

BL: I love working at The Edge because I get to be around incredibly talented people and learn a lot, all while doing what I love. I’m currently an Assistant Fashion Editor, so I’m in charge of coming up with new ideas for magazine edition stories and designs, as well as assisting with casting and styling new fashion shoots. I’m also a street style blogger, so I get to pick out random, cool outfits I spot on campus to write about!

CF: If you had to pick your favorite designer, who would it be and why?

BL: My favorite designer has to be Alexander Wang. I adore his looks. I think he is always really innovative and is before his time.

CF: What new trends are you looking forward to most this season?

BL: I am an avid supporter of neutrals, and I love the gray on gray “groutfit” looks that so many people are doing right now. That and of course anything sweatsuit-chic!
