ALL IN THE DETAILS: The Highs and Lows

We’ve reached the time of year on the Foggy Bottom campus where you’re never quite dressed for the weather. A morning may start chilly and rainy, with many opting to finally break out their cozy fall style favorites, but by the end of the day it may feel like we’ve gone back to the sunny and humid days of summer. Though this is easier said than done, it is imperative that Fashionistas find a balance in their outfit so that they can be comfortable and flawless no matter what the weather.

This Fashionista has mastered the D.C. weather balancing act by masterfully pairing a cropped black camisole with a long patterned cardigan, allowing her versatile layers for any temperature. The cropped camisole is the main focus of the outfit, as it could stand alone stylishly without the cardigan due to the matching heeled ankle boots and cat-eye glasses. It also allows for a charming peek at her torso tattoo, adding some elegant edge to her look. These details paired with the textured jeans, make for a minimalistic outfit with attitude that is perfect for a summer day. When paired with the patterned cardigan, the outfit is transformed to “fall appropriate,” while simultaneously adding an eye-catching bit of color dimension. All-together, this Fashionista looks like she’s ready to turn every head in Kogan with her cool, The Craft-inspired vibes.

How To: Imitate this look by taking your favorite summer cropped shirt or camisole and layer it with a complimentary blazer, cardigan or hooded zip-up. Make sure that either the crop or the cover is a solid color. Allow one of the pieces to be the focus of the outfit.
