ALL IN THE DETAILS: The Essential of Subtlety

As trends come and go, it can be difficult to stay true to your personal style. A way to incorporate new trends into your wardrobe can be through adding subtle details to an entire outfit within different pieces of clothing. A way that I like to incorporate different trends is to find it in an article of clothing or accessory where it isn’t expected. For example, finding a statement print or fabric on a pair of shoes.

This Fashionisto added tiny details to a classic look, where he incorporated trends in just the right way. The woven sneaker trend was huge in 2016 and many brands, such as Nike and Adidas, created sneakers that embodied this “cozy” movement. Because he wanted to take on the trend but keep a polished look, he found woven suede sneakers that fulfilled both criteria. He also wore a striped long sleeve, which was folded just below the wrist to keep the outfit refined. The distressed jeans and a Champion logo hat added elements of street style to his classic ensemble. Although the look was centered around the woven sneakers, we also see the logo trend incorporated into this outfit. Branded logos such as Champion and Calvin Klein were also big trends in 2016, which will most likely spread in 2017.

Adding a minimal amount of trendy details to any look can transition a trend into a timeless piece. If you feel uncomfortable trying out a new trend, just add small details of that trend into your outfits and see how you like it! Venturing out of your comfort zone won’t always be a bad thing.
