ALL IN THE DETAILS: Statement Necklace

It’s officially spring, and almost summer! Wahoo! Now that the sun is back from hiding, I seem to find myself back in my natural habitat of dressing, being from California and it seems like so does everyone else! Skirts, shorts and dresses are slowly making their way back into Fashionista’s wardrobes and chunky sweaters, jeans and snow boots are officially making there way to Good Will. Sometimes we get caught dressing minimalistic in order to bear the heat but doing this doesn’t have to be boring!

One of my all-time favorite ways to add an instant cool factor to a look is through an accessory like a bold statement necklace. Whether it is worn with a sweater and jeans or a white dress, as shown here, it adds that extra something to any outfit, any season. When looking for the perfect statement accessory I always tend to find the best and most unique pieces in vintage shops, thrift stores, flea markets or small boutiques in SoHo.

But no matter what make sure you stick to these key guidelines and I can guarantee you will find the perfect piece: 1) It should never be too distracting or have to many things going on at once. 2) Stick to the basic colors (you can never go wrong with silver, gold or bronze)! 3) it should always be a representation of your personality and style. In this Fashionista’s case, her necklace is edgy, artistic and fun just like her!

She completes this ensemble with a Marilyn Monroe type feel, swing, backless dress and over-the-knee beige boots! This is not only the perfect look for the warm weather but any one of the many music festivals that are soon approaching too!

How To: Have you never thought you could pull off a statement necklace? Well, have no fear! Whether you are wearing a simple monochromatic dress or shorts and a black v- neck T-shirt you can easily add a bold piece on top to add character to a simple look. And the best part about investing in a statement necklace is that it can be worn to any occasion, from a formal dance to lunch out with your friends.
