ALL IN THE DETAILS: Shifting Into Fall

October 28th, 2015 at 2:00am

The weather is getting chillier, the leaves are starting to change and the smell of fall and pumpkin spice lattes are in the air. Before the snow starts to fall and the below-zero temperatures of Wisconsin’s winter jump up on us, we need to take advantage of our fall apparel. Just because you might need to throw on a sweater instead of showing off your bare arms and wear boots instead of sandals doesn’t mean we can’t still rock our favorite dresses this season.

My favorite piece from this summer was my shift dress. I wore it over my swim suit to the pool and even dressed it up for a night out on the town. I’m looking forward to carrying this trend into the fall and so is this Fashionista. She is wearing a patterned, long sleeve shift dress from Forever 21 and her favorite pair of brown riding boots. She accessorizes the outfit with a cream fringe purse she got in Florence last semester, a long pendant necklace and couple of beaded bracelets. The outfit is simple, yet stylish and she looks like the true Fashionista is she walking down State Street.

The long sleeves and the boots at the perfect touch for this fall weather. Before we know it, the holiday season will be upon us and we all know those tight fitting dresses will find their way to the back of the closet. The shift dress is the perfect way to shift into fall and embrace those short hemlines.

How To: Scared to rock your dresses in the cold weather? Don’t be afraid to layer! Throw on a leather jacket for the bars, tights for work or a sweater for a day in the classroom. There are so many ways to embrace both shift dresses and fall weather this season.
