ALL IN THE DETAILS: Shades of Cool

October 5th, 2015 at 2:00am

When I saw this Fashionista walking around campus, I instantly fell in love with her outfit that had hints of ‘70s fashion and bohemian elements mixed in. This Fashionista is keeping up with Pantone’s fall 2015 collection by sporting one of the most popular colors of this season, “Reflecting Pond,” a blue gray. Her outfit was dressy for class, yet casual and free, creating a perfect mix for this fall.

The cool colored shade of this Fashionista’s dress stands out, as it is a mix of both blue and gray. The back of the dress is cut low and shows some skin, but by adding a lace bralette the Fashionista offered more detail and texture into this simple look. Bralettes are easy to accessorize with and this Fashionista used the lace’s softness to her advantage and take away some of the edge from her caged leather booties.

The Fashionista’s lace-up booties also had a hint of ‘70s bohemian fashion. Caged booties are trendy and great for the transitional fall season since they offer some enclosure. ‘70s styles such as fringe and maxi dresses appeared all over runways like BCBGMAXAZRIA and Rebecca Minkoff at New York Fashion Week earlier last month.

Additionally, this Fashionista personalized her look by tying up one end of her dress into a stylish knot to show off her caged booties. Tying up her dress added more dimension and made her look more unique. This Fashionista also contributed to personalizing her outfit with the layering of her necklaces. The simple silver pieces she wore added some edge to her outfit and brought attention back to her face.

How To: Just like the leaves changing outside, fall is the perfect time to start experimenting with different shades while participating in some of your favorite fall time activities. You can keep your unique style while trying out different colors by adding some of your favorite accessories or shoes to your look.
