ALL IN THE DETAILS: Scarf Days of Fall

Fall is one of my favorite seasons (as you can tell by my name, Autumn). It is a time of change and a chance to change up your style. This is the time of year where you are in between your summer clothes and your winter clothes. In the morning, there is a crisp coolness in the air and then by afternoon the warmth returns. This is when you master the art of layering so that you will be warm walking to the early morning classes and then be able to shed those layers once the warmth of the afternoon sun takes hold. Your layered look and use of accessories gives you the chance to experiment so that you can make your outfit pop with personality.

This Fashionista’s outfit caught my attention because of her use of color blocking. She rocked an acid washed denim vest over a salmon pink colored flowy blouse. She also wore a pair of dark denim skinny jeans rolled up to resemble carpi pants. She added a little bit of pattern to her look by wearing tribal print brown leather ankle boots. Her use of accessories pulled her outfit together.

Some people are scared to wear accessories when your outfit already has a lot going on, but not this Fashionista. She wore a big gold colored ring which really popped next to her salmon pink blouse. Her biggest accessory was her use of a lavender colored scarf. This scarf helped her to pull off the color-blocking trend by having the lavender against the salmon pink.  Wearing denim on denim can make an outfit look really harsh, but with her gold ring and lavender scarf it turned her outfit in to a girly girl look. I believe your clothes should help you stand out in the crowd and this Fashionista’s clothing and accessories allowed her to do just that.

How To: Get this Fashionista’s look by selecting a bright colored scarf and getting a blouse in a complementary bright color. Then get the rest of your clothing in neutral colors which will allow you to stand out in the crowd, but not with an over the top look. If you want to add a little more detail to your outfit, then pair with gold jewelry and patterned shoes like this Fashionista did.
