ALL IN THE DETAILS: Love Or Skate

The great thing about being style savvy in today’s day and age is the fact that one’s style can take on many different personas. It is in fact possible to have a decent amount of Ralph Lauren polos and also have a decent amount of Nike Roshe Runs. Most people no longer confine their style to a tiny label of either preppy, rebellious, sporty or bohemian. Most people of today’s generation bounce around from genre to genre in the same way people listen to different genres of music. Thanks to blends of different trends and styles, people can form one of a kind looks that match their unique personality.

Skating around an old basketball court, this Fashionista exemplifies a unique mash up of style genres. With a lacy button-up Peter Pan collar blouse paired and a burgundy skater skirt, her outfit is modest and preppy. The addition of a cardigan and a gold rhinestone encrusted bracelet gives the getup even more of a traditional appeal. However, this Fashionista spices up her ensemble with ribbed tights and black Converse. She effortlessly takes pieces that contrast each other in comparison and makes work together nicely.

The key to finding your own style is experimentation. Believe me, I’d be lying if I said looking back on photos of me as a freshman in highschool I already had my style put together. Unless you count wearing a vast array of Hollister graphic T-shirts and knockoff UGGs everyday, I didn’t. But thanks to experimentation one can learn what doesn’t work for them and what does. This Fashionista’s style definitely works.

How To: Take a skater skirt, particularly one with lace, tulle or with a floral print and add a graphic T-shirt and flannel for a feminine yet casual look.
