ALL IN THE DETAILS: Knit, Print, Lace

November 2nd, 2015 at 2:00am

The leaves are turning, there’s a chill in the air, Starbucks’ PSL is back and the big sweaters are making their way out of closets everywhere. Fall is my favorite time of year, and my favorite season to dress for. There’s something so satisfying about slipping on an oversized sweater, leggings, your favorite pair of riding boots and heading out the door.

Another reason why fall is my favorite season is because of the color palette. Fall colors largely consist of neutrals, dark colors, olive greens and burgundy. These colors are so versatile and look great on everyone. They are also easy to match with other colors to create the perfect fall look. Fall also utilizes a lot of different textures such as knits, suede and corduroy. Mixing and matching these colors and textures is the perfect way to create the perfect fall look.

This Fashionista’s fall style is so unique. She layers her oversized sweater over a lace slip, which dresses up the sweater effortlessly. She adds black tights to keep her legs warm on the cool fall morning walks to class. Finally, she finishes off the look with a hat and an animal print clutch. What I admire most about this outfit is this Fashionista’s bold choice to pair knit and lace. It makes the entire ensemble go from the standard fall uniform of sweaters and leggings and gives it an interesting, yet unconventional twist.

One Simple Change: If experimenting with the lace slip is a little too far outside of your comfort zone, or if the weather is too cold to wear tights, just switch the tights and slip for your favorite pair of leggings and you’re all set!
