ALL IN THE DETAILS: Into the Fray

This Fashionista’s outfit caught my eye for several different reasons, but I was particularly interested in her denim. This season denim jeans fraying at the edges are all the rage and I love how subtly her jeans incorporated this trend into the design. The fraying isn’t too messy, but rather right on trend. I’m also digging the slits by the knees on the denim. These jeans exemplify the beauty of understated distressing.

This Fashionista dressed her distressed jeans up by pairing a long button-down top and a classic blazer with these jeans. The colors of her button-down shirt and blazer also caught my eye. The lovely “serenity” blue of her button down shirt and the feminine “rose quartz” pink of her blazer were both deemed two of the top 10 colors for spring by Pantone, the global authority on color. She further incorporated pastel color into her look by slipping on a mint-colored mini backpack.

Fraying denim and pastel Pantone colors weren’t the only spring trends that this Fashionista incorporated into her look. She also played around with the metallic trend by donning a shiny pair of silver metallic oxfords. She ditched the laces in her oxfords to avoid looking too prim and proper. She kept her jewelry to a minimum and simply slipped on a pair of small stud earrings.

How To: Give your favorite pair of jeans a DIY update by fraying the hemline. Add distressing around the knees if you’re so inclined. Then throw on your favorite blazer and pair of metallic shoes and you’re good to go.
