ALL IN THE DETAILS: Hometown Pride

It’s finally spring! However, just because the sun is shining and flowers are starting to bloom, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a chance of overcast skies and a chilly morning ahead. Even with the weather warming up, it’s still wise to layer up for a little bit longer.

What I love about fashion is the entire concept of self-expression. A great look has every little essence of your personality down to the little details. Many people express themselves through patterns, bright colors and even their favorite band or sports team. One of the best things to show is pride in where you are from. I spotted this Fashionista in-between classes and knew that her outfit was a standout from the others that afternoon. This Fashionista does just that with her rad Cleveland beanie. Since Kent is located in northeast Ohio, there’s no wonder why there is a high abundance of Cleveland fans.

As a beanie fiend, it was the first thing I noticed in her ultra casual attire. Her beanie made a loud statement, but the colors incorporated were subtle and not overwhelming. Playing into the red, white and blue her beanie projected, she paired her hat with a soft blue sweater, warm enough to stay comfortable on the way to class. Keeping the layers into play, she opted for a black peacoat, perfectly contrasting against the blue. Finishing off the look, this Fashionista decided to keep the bottom layer of her outfit simple, tying in black jeans with brown riding boots. With this move, more attention is made to the upper half of her look, especially the bright colors of her knit beanie.

Although this Fashionista coordinated her outfit on point, she kept the rest of the ensemble simple. There was no mistake that she wanted the detail of her hat to be noticeable to all who passed by her. Simplicity can say so much by showing so little!

How To: Taking pride in where you’re from can be a confidence boost and a great conversation starter. To show your hometown pride in your wardrobe, wear a knit beanie with your favorite sports team logo or a T-shirt from a band that is from your area.
