ALL IN THE DETAILS: Get Ripped

September is here, and fall is upon us. The pumpkin spice latte is back on the menu, college football has begun (and we won our first game—go Wolfpack!) and fall festivals are starting up soon. But here in North Carolina, that doesn’t always mean the weather is getting any cooler. I don’t know about the rest of you Fashionistas, but I’m tired of wearing shorts in the middle of September. However, there’s tons of little ways to start transitioning your outfits into fall without piling on blanket scarves and knit socks just yet. So my advice for how to look the part for early fall is get ripped! I don’t mean start working out; I’m talking about your jeans. I’m wearing my favorite pair of destroyed boyfriend jeans, and they’re ripped just enough to be breezy, so I don’t get too hot, but I can still have the fall look of wearing pants!

Along with fall weather comes fall colors. We start saying goodbye to the bright, vibrant colors we wore all summer and re-introduce the darker shades to our closets. I chose to bring in some burgundy with my shirt, and I felt more “fall” already. It has some strappy lace-up details on the neckline that make it perfect to transition from a fun daytime shirt into a nighttime going-out shirt. I tucked in the front for a high-low effect and to show off a bit more of the jeans. It seems to me that warmer colors tend to be more popular in the fall, so I chose to wear gold earrings and bracelets rather than silver ones. Little details such as these are great ways to start easing your way back into fall fashion.

One of the details I always pay most attention to is having my nails painted. My mani-pedi for the week was a nude/red combo, with nude fingernails and red toes, because my school’s color is red. I wouldn’t even be mentioning this if not for the fact that you can see the red through my peep-toe booties, which I felt were more appropriate for the warmer days in early fall than closed-toe boots. The heel was a little higher than I’m used to, but they’re versatile shoes in a nice neutral tone that can be paired with a dress, jeans or anything in between.

I look forward to styling more fall fashion as the weather gets cooler and seeing what the rest of you Fashionistas will be wearing as well!
