ALL IN THE DETAILS: All Torn Up

Ripped jeans and ripped shirts are everywhere. The whole distressed look is an aesthetic I’ve been obsessed with this fall. We all know that ripped jeans paired with a nicer shirt always makes an outfit look ten times cooler, but this Fashionisto switched up the proportions. Men’s shirt silhouettes are unquestionably taking a step toward longer hemlines. I have to say I’m really liking it so far especially when paired with skinny jeans and chunky Timberland boots.

The rips in the sweatshirt give detail to an outfit that is otherwise simplistic in nature. rips in the garment not only give visual interest but also texture when paired with plain black skinny jeans. My favorite thing about this look is that it reminds me of ’90s grunge but not too over the top that it looks like a costume. This Fashionisto stuck with a dark color palette and added the hat on top of it all to give the look a more urban vibe. This look is definitely cool to wear to class and then out for the night. It’s perfect for a chillier fall day because wearing a T-shirt underneath helps to keep the Fashionista warmth but doesn’t look bulky either.

How To: You can easily DIY this look by buying a plain sweatshirt in the color of your choosing and distressing it to look as grunge-y as you want. Just carefully make cuts in the sweatshirt and pull out a few threads to give it a more worn-in look. As for the skinny jeans you probably already have some in your closet! Finish off the look with some Dr. Martens or some cool Timberlands and you’re ready for a day or night in the city!
