WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

Welcome back to school! For the UC system, school is just about to start, and for us here at UCR, that means Block Party (a music festival hosted by UCR exclusive to UCR’s students). I remember when I first came to college, I had no idea what to expect at Block Party, and I had no idea what to wear. Just remember that it is a music festival in the Inland Empire, so it does get hot. My advice? Go with a classic music festival look: a crop top, comfortable high-waisted shorts and of course, some comfortable shoes.

I caught this Fashionista sporting the perfect outfit for Block Party. She was in a simple sporty bralette, a cute vintage denim skirt, some comfy Jeffrey Campbells, a vintage backpack and a variety of jewelry.

Overall, this look is a fantastically spiced-up version of a classic music festival look. Wearing the sporty bralette instead of a more expected lacy one, brings an essence of a sport goth look. Her vintage skirt is the perfect compromise between skirts and shorts because it isn’t binding like shorts, and the jean fabric doesn’t ride up like regular pencil skirts do. These platform shoes are super cute, but comfortable and supportive enough so that she can enjoy the concert without constantly needing to sit down and feeling like she ran a marathon by the end of the night. Her backpack is both adorable and practical as it’s a great place to leave her student ID, phone and maybe even a light jacket. Last but not least, her jewelry which came from Turkey, accents the outfit in the perfect way, bringing everything together.

One Simple Change: What I love about this outfit is that its so versatile. With just a cardigan or jacket, it is a look that this Fashionista can bring into the classroom, or out for a girl’s night.
