STYLE GURU STYLE: Blue Valentine

“A girl can’t read that sort of thing without her lipstick.” That was quoted from Holly Golightly from the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Holly sure knows her stuff. You certainly can’t read a CollegeFashionista post without looking your best! So put on your lipstick and read this! Bright lips have been an outstanding trend in runways this fall. It made a popular look for the models in one of my personal favorite fashion shows this year—the Chanel fall 2015 couture. The show features a lot of bright red and pink lips, which gave me the inspiration to put on my most standout lipstick and pair it with a Chanel purse of the same color.

You’d never think that a single makeup item could pull an entire look together, but lipstick is one of the best accessories there is. You can match your lip color to a complementary clothing item so that not only your outfit stands out, but your face does, too! My favorite lipstick this year has got to be my Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in #13 Le Orange. It’s a red-orange color that smells amazing and glides on so silky and smooth! It also makes any outfit look 10 times more glamorous once applied!

If you’re more of a matte lip kind of girl, you can try MAC’s So Chaud, which has a similar color to Yves Saint Laurent’s, but doesn’t give off a satin finish. This lip color is the same one I show off in my post today! I used it to match my vintage Chanel cross-body bag and to contrast with my light blue, sleeveless chiffon dress I got from J.Crew and adorable flats from Zara. I feel like the matte lip better suits the everyday kind of look whereas a satin finished lip product goes well with a more formal style. Whichever look you end up going for, though, I’m sure will look super #RAD. Have a good one, Fashionistas!
