STYLE GURU STYLE: Living In Lace

Adding lace as an accent or a little pop of extra excitement in an outfit has been around for years. However, the popularity of all-over lace clothing has just started to come into the light. A.W.A.K.E.’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection features many structured looks with full-on lace dresses being a prevalent part of the show. Drawing inspiration from looks 34, 39 and 40 in particular, I translate the all-over lace trend from runway to everyday.

Since the temperature is dropping as fall slowly makes its yearly debut, I opted for a long sleeve white lace dress layered over a long, solid black cami. Layering different colors underneath lace and having these colors show through the detailed pattern is one characteristic that makes A.W.A.K.E.’s collection unique.

To keep the fall trend going, I paired my dress with sheer black tights and black suede booties. In A.W.A.K.E.’s collection, most of the models wear white shoes, but darker colors tend to work better for fall. To add some color to this mostly monochromatic outfit, I accessorized with velvet maroon bobby socks and a maroon hat. By adding these strategic pops of color, attention is drawn to my face as well as my shoes.

The models in A.W.A.K.E.’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection wear simple makeup and highly teased hair. Teased hair is not something that can be worn every day and because of this, throwing on a hat is much more practical. I complete my look by adding a beaded choker, gold initial rings and a simple gold bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. White lace dress. 2. Black booties. 3. Maroon hat.
