STYLE GURU STYLE: Homerun

Trends are usually sparked from street style, and then high end designers translate them into something super chic that is runway-worthy. Jerseys have been seen on athletes and sports fans, of course, and in the hip-hop culture for decades, but recently designers have turned this trend into something a little more fashion-forward.

My personal style can range from super feminine and girly to athletic and styled based on trends in menswear with a feminine twist. Since the weather is getting nicer, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to pull out my mock baseball jersey. It’s a good go-to piece for a nice weekend day when running a few errands or even for a night on the town with your girlfriends.

This look was based on Alexander Wang’s spring 2013 menswear runway show. Alexander Wang turned the traditional baseball jersey into a piece of high fashion for men. His leather and suede baseball jerseys give this basic style a fashionable twist and are perfect for men or women. You can catch celebrities like A$AP Rocky rocking this baseball jersey trend and giving it the shine that it deserves.

After examining Alexander Wang’s collection, I noticed how nicely all the pieces tie together. Not only are they predominantly black, which already makes it amazing, but they also mix classic menswear pieces, like the suit jacket, with the great elements of street style such as sneakers, mock jerseys, leather and baseball caps.

I wanted to take my black and white look to the next level, so I added a matte red lip, courtesy of the Kylie Lip Kit in the shade Mary Jo, to give it the pop of color it needed.

Get My Look: 1. Mock baseball jersey. 2. High-waisted black jeans. 3. Nike Huarache sneakers.
