STYLE GURU BIO: Amy Aguirre

This Monday I began my last year of college. College has been an incredible experience for me and I have learned so much in and out of the classroom. One important thing I have learned is that you should always strive to be yourself. College is a time to discover who you are and to celebrate your individuality. This is why I’m so excited to work with CollegeFashionista and document students expressing their own personal style.

I am a student at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. My focus is on visual communication and editorial design.  I love being creative and communicating through visuals, whether that is design, photography or even fashion. Fashion is such a powerful creative outlet.

I find it difficult to describe my style because it is always changing due to my mood or change in interests. I get most of my fashion inspiration from film, television and music. My favorite movie is Practical Magic—oh how I wish I was an Owens sister. I just love the ethereal and bohemian style in the film. I also get a lot of inspiration from my favorite TV show Pushing Daisies. It is a show full of color and amazing costumes. My two fashion role models are Stevie Nicks and Audrey Hepburn; they both have such distinct style and at times I try to emulate that in my own outfits.

In this outfit I was really drawn to the floral crochet design on the blouse, you can find this shirt at Francesca’s. I also always try to wear as many different rings as possible. The more simple my oufit is, the more rings I wear. I especially love purple rings, you can find a similar one on Etsy. To add a little personality to my outfit or my bag, I pinned a “Stevie Nicks Fan Club” pin to my tote. You can find your own fan club pin at Kate Gabrielle.

Overall, I am so excited to document student style here at Arizona State University. I hope to see you on campus!
