I talk a lot about staple pieces in Nashville; what would Music City be without the staple piece of a band T-shirt? Especially at a music school like Belmont, a Fashionista/o’s favorite band can make its way into their fashion choices. Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike have been sporting band T-shirts for years and have inspired clothing companies like Urban Outfitters to carry vintage tour shirts.
This Fashionisto was repping one of my favorite bands, Black Sabbath, with pride as he walked around campus. In Nashville, band shirts are obviously very easy to come by, but the greatest place to look is a mom or dad’s closet. Parents often hold on to these T-shirts for nostalgic reasons, but if they are able to part with a shirt, by all means, take it! Don’t forget to ask nicely.
With this look, this Fashionisto took his Black Sabbath shirt and paired it with his favorite army green pants. He cuffed them for an extra touch of ruggedness, too. If you don’t have an adult to snag a band shirt from, try eBay or Etsy. If you are a Black Sabbath fan like this Fashionisto, try this vintage 1978 tour shirt from Etsy. For an online store with tons of vintage shirts, try Rusty Zipper. To get a pair of pants like this Fashionisto’s, pick up a pair of Levi Brand Jeans 514 straight jeans in burnt olive.
Every Fashionista/o needs a band shirt in their closet. They add the perfect vintage touch to any look and can make a simple T-shirt and jeans combination a million times better. Not to mention these pieces have tons of history and make a great conversation starter on campus. So don’t forget to check your mom or dad’s closet when you are home on a holiday!
