STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Fashion has evolved in so many different aspects throughout the last couple years.  Old trends came back to life and fads were gone so quickly that you almost forgot they were a thing. However, one thing that have I learned throughout the years by observing the industry, is that there is a silly misconception of when something isn’t “in style” and isn’t considered fashion forward. I believe that fashion is whatever you want it to be; It’s so easy to follow trends and gain inspiration from others but style is something that we create ourselves whether it’s through experience or through culture. At the beginning of 2016 I told myself I was going to step out of my comfort zone and wear less neutrals and more bold colors.  Pleased with the decision I made is an understatement, I definitely found my edgy side this year! The advice that I would give to anyone who is second guessing their choice in outfits or even color schemes is to be bold!  Wear whatever you want and love it, life is too short to be second guessing anything!

I spotted this Fashionista on campus while heading to class and first thing I said to myself was, “Her style is so dope!” The way she put her whole outfit together, was very stylish, in an instance I knew I needed her to be a part of my post. Her striped jumpsuit was what first caught my attention because I always try to stay from anything striped but she definitely styled it in a way that made me rethink about adding it to my wardrobe. The color of her cross-body bag was so bright it definitely made her outfit stand out more and I loved that she did that because I’m all for mix-and-matching colors and patterns.  Her block heel shoes were subtle but a smart choice, too much of anything doesn’t necessarily mean its good for you. As for her accessories she kept it very minimal to bring more attention to her actual jumpsuit and to not be too chaotic; her hair is amazing. I asked her what made her decide to go so bright red, and she replied, “I don’t like boring, so if I get tired of anything too soon, I have to change it.” Last thing I asked her was, “Are you going anywhere special after school?,” she said, “No, I genuinely enjoy dressing up to school it gives me more energy throughout the day.”

Never be afraid to start anything new or to wear something out of your ordinary, it’s a good feeling afterwards because at least you can say you tried it!
