Now that we are well into April, it seems as though the weather forecasts only seem to be saying it is going to rain. Even though this wet weather is not ideal, I can appreciate the rapid increase of temperature. On the few sunny days we have, it is a great time to bring out some floral prints.
Taking cues from the Dolce&Gabbana spring 2014 ready-to-wear runway show, this Fashionista bloomed in a dark floral dress. Wearing a print with a dark base color really makes the colors of the design seem bold. The dress our Fashionista is wearing is from Brandy Melville and really puts a spin on the classic flowery sundress. I personally love how vividly the daisies on the dress stand out against the dark background.
Unfortunately, because it is not quite 80 degrees yet, we are still in layering season. This Fashionista smartly topped off her dress with a gray knit sweater, also from Brandy Melville, and a blue Gap chambray jacket. Choosing a neutral to put between the blue jacket and the printed dress was great choice because it didn’t detract anything from the outfit. I love the look of chambray, and it is an easy way to add color into an outfit, but a lighter denim jacket would be an easy switch when the weather gets warmer.
An outfit is never complete without a few proper accessories. Our Fashionista kept classy with a delicate gold nameplate necklace and pearl earrings. This just goes to show how sometimes less can be more. The perfect finish to her outfit was the pair of gold-detailed booties from Target, which are a great investment piece because you can wear them all year-round. Getting a simple pair with a little embellishing, like this Fashionista, is the best way to ensure you will look stylish wherever you go.
As the weather gets warmer (and hopefully drier), it is time to pull out your favorite floral prints. Have the print really stand out against a dark background, and pair it off with simple jewelry for the complete look.
