FASHION FROM ABROAD: Princess Dimensions

Growing up, I was one of those little girls that was obsessed with princesses. I had watched all the Disney Princess movies multiple times and had the stories committed to memory. In addition to the film obsession, the other things in my childhood like my room, my costume for Halloween and my toys, were ruled dictated by princess-like characteristics. So as I grew up and adopted a rational mental process knowing that my chances of becoming a princess were very low, I became attracted to things in the fashion world that had princess dimensions. My connection to the princess life would come in the form of princess-cut jackets, Peter Pan collars and pastels.

Here in Paris, the princess-cut jacket takes full reign as a sartorial staple. Part of the Parisian uniform is a princess-cut jacket, cigarette pants and depending on the weather, simple ballet flats or chic booties. So when I spotted this Fashionista in front of the library, I was not surprised to see an immaculate interpretation of this classic look. Despite the rainy and gloomy weather, this Fashionista shined bright with a pair of short leather shorts, tights and platform boots with a pair of glimmering socks peaking out just so. The platform boot and leather short combination is making its rounds through the streets of Paris and beyond.

Whenever I go sightseeing around Paris, it turns into a front row preview of the best street style show in existence. One thing that is not missing from the city is a sophisticated sense of style where the locals have curated their own “Parisian look.”

Captured: I captured this Fashionista taking a smoke break outside of the library in one of the most fashionable areas of Paris, Saint-Germain des Près.
