WHAT TO WEAR: Weekend Wear

With the school year starting up again, there’s no reason the weekend has to be just for the library. For my closest friends and I, brunch is a year-round, weekly outing that allows us to wear something other than shorts and a tank top to class in this Southern weather. Get ready for the Eggs Benedict and complaints about not enough closet space.

I spotted this Fashionista last weekend at one of my favorite brunch spots in Richmond, Weezie’s Kitchen. With this past Sunday having a 100 percent chance of rain, she was able to sport the first trench coat of the season. Going for a brighter look, however, she chose a mustard color to change up the look. You could even do this alternative for the warmer months. Underneath, she chose a simple, white cropped top that acts as a staple piece for any closet. Going for comfort and style, this Fashionista chose a pair of high-waisted, light wash jean shorts, giving the look a fun and flirty feel for a Sunday afternoon.

She accessorized with a mix and match of bangles, in varying shades of brown and red. She tied the look together with a pair of Krewe du optic polarized sunglasses, a personal favorite of celebs like Gigi Hadid and a pair of brown, strappy wedges, which are perfect for the cobblestone streets of Carytown. She finally finished the look with a vintage gold statement ring that can be worn at brunch, to class or to your next job interview (similar to this one from J.Crew).

One Simple Change: Most of the time, our favorite jean shorts lack pocket space or the weather is far to hot for a roomy trench coat like the one sported by our Fashionista. Try adding a cross-body bag like this one from Madewell for a day-time outing or a trendy backpack such as this Herschel one for taking the same look to a study session at the library.
