WHAT TO WEAR: Vacation

Congratulations, Fashionista/os! You have made it another semester and might have even tossed your cap. As you file away the memories and slowly regain your sanity, it is time to pack your bags and plan the perfect vacation. Your perfect vacation could be an hours drive away or it could take a long plane ride. Wherever it is you want to go, you need to get there in style. My top trips for travel style are to dress in layers, think practically and know your destination. This week’s Fashionisto shows us how to pull off effortless vacation style.

Going along with the first tip, this Fashionisto has layered a plaid button-down over a casual henley. This is perfect for two reasons. The first being that it is right on-trend and adds color and texture without too much fuss. Secondly, if this Fashionisto’s destination is somewhere a little warmer, then he can remove the button-down and tie it around his waist for a laid-back grunge feel.

Soft denim is a must when travelling. The right pair of denim can elevate a comfortable look in the place of joggers or sweats. They also add just the right amount of structure without sacrificing comfort. Look for a slim fit that won’t feel bulky and can easily tuck into a pair of sturdy boots.

This Fashionisto’s leather Timberland boots are great for vacation. Sure, laces aren’t always ideal (especially at the airport) but often times it makes the most sense to wear your bulkiest footwear to save space in your luggage. The hassle of re-lacing your boots is outweighed by the practical benefits.

One Simple Change: Go straight from your travels to begin your vacation. Swap the plaid button-down for a cool bomber jacket to take your look from day to night with minimal effort.
