WHAT TO WEAR: Recruitment

As college campuses revive with the return of their beloved students, sororities all over the nation prepare to grow their chapters with the recruitment of new pledge classes. Formal recruitment is a grueling process with long days, major girl flirting and a lot of chanting. Whether your campus has four chapters or twenty-something, it is a nerve wracking, yet rewarding experience. You go through the recruitment rounds in hopes of making it to bid day, and meeting your new best friends and possible bridesmaids.

While recruitment is centered around finding the chapter that makes you feel comfortable and confident, first impressions are crucial. When you have hundreds of conversations about basic information like majors, hometowns and families, it is easy for sorority women to blur together their PNMs. Therefore, it is important to make sure your outside appearance reflects the beautiful qualities of your heart. “Dress to impress” is definitely a mantra to keep throughout the recruitment process. However, remember that being comfortable and confident are also very important, so make sure those super cute sandals/heels are broken in before you find your feet torn up from all of the walking. Last piece of advice is to smile, because this is supposed to be a fun and exciting time!

My Fashionista is ready for recruitment rounds with this killer look. She centered her look around a green floral shift dress. This dress is extremely flattering and exudes confidence with the lace-up detail. Taking my advice, she kept her shoes extremely comfortable, but super cute. Birkenstocks are my holy grail shoes and, once broken in, feel like walking on nothing. This Fashionista is wearing the Mayari sandal in black to keep the focus on the dress. While this Fashionista let the dress be the statement and did not wear any extra jewelry, remember that is totally okay to stack some Alex and Ani bracelets or even some rings.
