WHAT TO WEAR: Parent's Weekend

November 4th, 2016 at 2:00am

Fall is officially in full swing, the weather is changing, the leaves are falling and your parents are getting ready to visit you on campus! As you frantically hide anything deemed “inapropriate” in your dorm, don’t forget to pick out the perfect fall look for showing your parents around your new home. While tailgating before the game, or going into the city for dinner, you never know what the weather may throw at you.

I spotted this Fashionista walking around campus and thought this was the perfect look for a chilly day in town, cozy but still cute! Adding a large sweater to any look makes it instantly fall ready, and she is doing just that. Layering is the best way to extend the life of your spring wardrobe, and create new looks too. This otherwise light dress was completely changed when this Fashionista added army boots and knit crew socks. Fall and winter may mean bundling up, but you shouldn’t have to sacrifice your style with the upcoming climate. By layering, you create fun new outfits while also staying warm.

Since weather this season can be so unpredictable, my advice is to always play it safe and wear layers. Bringing a sweater or light jacket with you to parent’s weekend events can save you from a windy walk back to your residence hall when the day is over. Since some events may have you moving building to building throughout the day, it’s a good idea to be prepared for any weather that might be thrown at you.
