WHAT TO WEAR: Internship

My dad watched The Devil Wears Prada the night before my first day at Cosmopolitan, calling it “research” to prepare me for my impending internship. While deliberating outfit choices with him at midnight from a business trip oceans away, my greatest fear was the dreaded “cerulean sweater incident” that Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) got mercilessly told off for. I had to look professional and chic but also young and fresh. I found this Fashionista, who has perfected the casual and classy look that is easy but also impressive.

Though having legs miles long is a dream, sprinting up subway steps and tripping over potholes is not. This Fashionista figured the perfect way to mix the pretty with the practical by wearing booties. Taking inspiration from the Coach spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, short boots are all the rage. With the chunky heel, they add an edgy flair to any look, but they are also comfortable and safely strut-able.

Her delicate New York necklace is very Carrie Bradshaw and is elegant and demure, which means that it is something that can be kept on and goes with any outfit. Combining that with sparkly eyeshadow and bold zippers can make a look feel complete and is versatile enough to be both day in and night out.

It is so easy to feel uncomfortable in an office of designer pumps and perfectly curated, up to the minute, trends, but it is confidence that is going to make the biggest impact. In her navy shirt and black blazer, this Fashionista was unfazed by the fact that she happened to wake up late and that the train was slow. She walked in cool, calm and collected, looking good and ready to tackle the day and work hard.
