WHAT TO WEAR: Fall

Whether it’s brunch with your family on parents’ weekend, or going to dinner on that first date, a Fashionista/o in Florida has to really think through their fall looks. I think it’s safe to say everyone loves this beautiful autumn season. It’s full of the best looks from dark lips to fall booties. To Northerners, that may mean being able to wear their trench coats or cozy sweaters, but to us Floridians, it’s still only a few degrees cooler than summer. Honestly, it’s tough being a Fashionsta/o in this warm state. Simple pieces with fall accessories are the best way to go when styling for autumn.

I spotted this Fashionista on her way to lunch with some friends. Her look reads “fall” even though the leaves aren’t changing colors on her campus, and she isn’t wearing riding boots to stay warm. Her backless marsala top is wearable anytime of the year, since marsala is the Pantone Color of the Year 2015. She donned some black skinnies, which are staple for fall (and really any season for me). For a more street-chic look, try these knee-cut black skinnies out for size. Her gold accessories match perfectly with her textured clutch. What caught my eyes most, however, were her sandals. These heeled lace-up beauties are perfect to dress up or down, like this Fashionista did for her lunch.

Dressing for the temperature and for the season can often be difficult in states like Florida. This Fashionista certainly has it mastered, and we can all find some great inspiration!

One Simple Change: When it comes to styling any look in Florida, it’s important to remember layering. It gets hotter, it can get a little windy, and it will probably rain—especially when you don’t need it to. If it does get a little chilly (anything under 70 degrees) at night, grab a light trench for a chic layered look.
