WHAT TO WEAR: Fall

It’s starting to get a little crisper here in Lexington and I have to admit, it brings excitement for all things fall. Caramel apples, pumpkins, crunchy leaves and hot cider come to mind with the change of season. Fall is one of my favorites to dress for, and with the cooler weather there are so many opportunities for layering and playing around with texture. Fall styling is all about the details.

Weather changes make flexibility a key part of any outfit. Layers are the easiest way to cope with varying temperatures. If you are not afraid to step outside the box, having fun with basic layering pieces is an easy way to add dimension to your outfit. This Fashionisto dressed for fall by layering a graphic T-shirt with a bomber jacket, tapered sweatpants and Nike Air Jordans. Centering on a dark palette allowed him to drift away from the bright colors of summer. Through the details of the outfit you can see an indication of his artistic personality. Between the neon pops of color on the Air Jordans and the T-shirt’s “you suck” tagline, this look brought originality to basic fall layering.

While the outfit is detail oriented, its composition is simple. Pairing a graphic T-shirt with a bomber jacket can look good on anyone and is easy to replicate. Simple pieces with strong construction add interest and dimension to this everyday look. Choosing sweatpants over jeans gave off a laid back vibe. With the bomber jacket being such a structured element, it found balance with the slouchy sweatpants. The collaboration of pieces is perfect for going to class or lounging on the weekends. This Fashionisto demonstrated how an everyday outfit could be taken to the next level by replacing plain basic layers with noteworthy pieces!

How To: If you love this look but want to transition from class to a night out, amp it up by changing the bottoms. Swapping from sweatpants to jeans will take this look from day to night!
