WHAT TO WEAR: Back-to-School

Back-to-school is the most wonderful time of the year, but for the first few weeks it can be difficult to put your best and most fashionable foot forward. Let’s face it September is hot and humid, not at all the hot chaiders and fluffy sweaters we had dancing in our heads when we dreamed of fall. So in order to stay cute and cool when you’re heading to class this September, it takes some creativity and some summer staples to make that transition until the heat breaks.

I spotted this Fashionisto when he was walking back from class. He didn’t let the hot weather get his fashion vibes down. He had a big smile on his face when I asked if I could photograph him, even though it would keep him out of the air conditioning a little bit longer.

This Fashionisto wore a short sleeve button-down, shorts and Sperry Top-Siders. Of course his outfit would not be complete without a little bit of bling. The gold tones of the jewelry pop when combined with the color and pattern of his button-down.

While I was taking the photos of this Fashionisto, I could see how happy he was to be in front of the camera. He was super excited to pose for me and show off his look. His excitement to be a part of what I was doing for CollegeFashionista, made me really excited for the semester of fashion ahead of me at a school with so much pride. Everyone at UMD knows how to stay #RAD.

One Simple Change: to take this look from back-to-school in September to parent’s weekend in October, I would switch out the shorts for a pair of dark wash jeans and depending on how crisp the autumn air is, a pair of Chelsea boots.
