STYLE GURU STYLE: With a Sporty Twist

All is calm, all is well; it is finally feeling like spring. I’m a firm believer that when the sun is out, the legs should be too.

Blown away by Alexander Wang’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear line, I instantly thought of adding a comfy, casual and sporty twist. Wang and I have a lot in common when it comes to drifting away from conventional standards of beauty and the light, angelic and cliche undertones expected from a season like spring. Even though the line was designed with fall in mind, with the models adorning sleek stockings and coat-dresses, the leather skirt captured my heart.

Because the weather is starting to get much warmer, I ditched the option of stockings and boots with a vintage T-shirt, black aviator shades and my favorite pair of Nike sneakers. If you haven’t gathered already, simplicity is the key to my everyday attire. There are so many ways to dress up slogans, brands and you guessed it, old T-shirts. Adding a lightweight skirt and cuffing the sleeves made me feel much more put together and dare I say, inspired by a runway look. The entire fall line makes me appreciate the marriage of trendy and “old fashioned.”

I especially loved how versatile I was really able to make this particular look. If transitioning to an evening or nighttime look, we could take a note from Wang and add (my personal go-to) ankle, black booties, a stellar striped jacket or even a light trench.

Get My Look: 1. A leather Skirt. 2. A vintage T-shirt. 3. Nike Roshes.
