STYLE GURU STYLE: Tie-Dye

Spring time is here! The start of a new season means new trends and new clothes. During the fall it was all about the ’70s. We saw lots of boho inspired fringe, suede and even the resurgence of bell bottom jeans. This retro trend appears to have carried over to spring but with a new twist: tie-dye.

My spring tie-dye outfit was inspired by Raquel Allegra’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. Allegra has always been known for her bohemian look, so it was only natural that she embraced the tie-dye trend wholeheartedly. This collection featured everything from tie-dyed tunics and dresses to beachy skirts and loose fitting flared pants.

Raquel Allegra’s color palette was soft yet cool toned. She had lots of baby blue, a muted olive green, a hint of yellow and of course her signature neutrals. I made this tie-dye look my own by keeping to this soft color scheme, but warming things up a bit with a pretty pastel pink. I kept things boho with my distressed boyfriend jeans, western belt, fringe handbag and lace up sandals.

Though tie-dye is a new trend for the season, it is not entirely new. As with many trends, it has gone in and out of style over the years. This oftentimes causes people to worry about staying power. Is tie-dye back for awhile? The answer is yes! Raquel Allegra also included plenty of tie-dyed frocks in her fall 2016 collection. Moral of the story, go stock up on some tie-dye because it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
