STYLE GURU STYLE: These Boots Were Made For Walking

It was the alice + olivia’s pre-fall 2016 collection that caught my eyes. I found it intriguing how designer, Stacey Bendet, was able come up with an idea to incorporate a, “chic librarian or school girl studying at the library,” into an entire fashion collection while still keeping its sex appeal alive. This collection embodies an autumn palate, keeping fabrics light in order to emanate the season. What really inspired me to mirror this look was my love for over-the-knee boots and skirts which kept re-appearing in Bendet’s collection.

Sometimes in fashion, we regress back to the older decades for inspiration. Right now is the return of the ’70s; the revival of the corduroy A-line skirt, flare pants and turtlenecks. Seeing as alice + olivia’s pre-fall collection incorporated a school girl look, I decided to put my own spin on this collection and wear my beige, suede skirt. This neutral-colored skirt fits perfectly with the autumn palate that Bendet was going for. I paired my beige skirt with a black turtleneck in order to stick with the ’70s look.

Black over-the-knee boots are a staple in my wardrobe along with being my favorite shoe this season. These shoes go with everything from a cute dress to a pair of leggings. They instantly pull the entire outfit together, making you look trendy and chic!

I kept my jewelry and accessories simple wearing my gold Fossil watch along with a long pearl and gold necklace to add some charm.  Any neutral colored earrings would go well with this outfit. My Michael Kors purse couldn’t stay behind either.

Your campus is your own runway. Try and incorporate your favorite runway pieces into an everyday outfit. You might surprise yourself by what you can pull together.
