STYLE GURU STYLE: The Simple Republic

It’s no secret that runway looks are expensive to get. So while I was looking through Banana Republic’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, a favorite of mine and a rather inexpensive collection compared to others, I thought: What if I took this collection as inspiration to get a similar look with even cheaper pieces? And here’s the result.

The collection features a wide range of styles. I personally like the lack of details in it. The garments are so unique that even without accessories you can get a great put-together look. The patterns used are also simple and elegant, making them easy to mix. Skirts, blazers, blouses, sweaters, every piece of the collection are wearable in everyday life.

To get a similar look, I chose a striped cotton T-shirt. White and blue were common colors in Banana Republic’s collection. I added a little twist as the weather here in Chile allows me, and put on some denim shorts. Flats are a favorite of mine so I chose a pair that would complement the trench coat. I chose this coat because thanks to the simplicity of it and its beige color, it could be easily mixed with some of Banana Republic’s runway.

As my look didn’t have many details, I added a gold bracelet with a ribbon in it and some gold earrings to match it. As I have said in previous occasions, even the smallest details can make a change. That’s a rule I live by. Maybe that’s why I feel almost naked if I go out without earrings. I believe that a nice pair can transform a simple look into a more elegant one. So keep in mind: don’t forget the earrings!

As you can see, it’s not impossible to look as if you just hit the runway. Even with everyday pieces you can get a photoshoot-worthy attire. Now it’s your turn.

P.S. Don’t forget the lipstick!

Get My Look: 1. A trench coat. 2. Denim shorts. 3. Flats.
