Have you ever heard the saying, “the devil is in the details?” This old saying refers to interesting or mysterious elements, so this means you better pay attention to those little details. Let me let you in on a little secret: this is an extremely important key to fashion and elevating your look. I make it my mission to always attempt to incorporate a few different and fun details into my personal style.

Interesting details, no matter how small, are definitely things that I look for when out shopping or choosing my next outfit. For instance, there are those details that we all know and love, like pockets.

Why do we obsess over these little design features so much? Let’s take stock for a moment: they can hold a number of items that we can not leave the house without, they keep your hands warm in cold weather, and let’s be honest, we all store food anywhere we can put it, so pockets are basically a must have. I’m the kind of person that will think something is mediocre until I suddenly discover it has pockets and then I’m obsessed.

The flannel shirt that I am wearing here is one of my favorite shirts of all time because not only does it have the classic pockets featured on the front, but it also has pockets on the sides. When I was trying this shirt on, my thought process was, “Oh, I love the colors, it’s super soft… wait, this has extra pockets?! Sold.” If you haven’t given pockets a try, what are you waiting for?

Anyone who knows me also knows that I have to have all things denim. Denim is pretty straight forward for the most part, but the detail here in my outfit is mixing different washes of denim. This is one of my favorite things to incorporate into my personal style because it automatically adds interest to your overall look. The key here is to not be afraid to mix and match until you find a combination that you can’t get enough of.

So if you like to obsess over the small things like me, maybe give these looks a try! These minor details may seem small, but they make a major difference in the overall look.
