STYLE GURU STYLE: Studded Shoe Envy

It’s no secret that summer is going by way too fast and that fall is right around the corner. I must confess that although I’m dreading the day that I have to put away my bikini, I’m getting excited for fall and all the trends that come along with it. Not to mention my favorite end of summer activity is upon us: back-to-school shopping. And no, I’m not talking about school supplies. I’m talking about the brand new wardrobe that all us Fashionistas and Fashionistos purchase with the approaching school year as our excuse. But it can be hard to find trendy yet affordable pieces with a college student budget. Because of this, I’ve found myself looking for neutral, versatile pieces that I can wear all season long. However, I still want to look stylish despite my lack of fortune.

Back in Valentino’s fall 2010 ready-to-wear runway show, designers Pier Paolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri first presented the now famous Rockstud heels. Soon women everywhere had major shoe envy for the patent-leather kitten heels trimmed with metal studs. Five years later, the Rockstud footwear collection is more popular than ever and features a variety of colors and styles to suit every Fashionista. However, with prices ranging from the upper hundreds to the thousands, these chic shoes aren’t exactly affordable. Luckily, while I was back to school shopping, I spotted a pair of flats that looked exactly like the enviable Rockstud shoes.

Not only are the flats trendy and eye-catching, but they are also functional; the neutral alpaca colored shoes can go with a variety of outfits. Since I wanted the shoes to be the main focus of my look, I kept the rest of my ensemble simple. I added my favorite black and white Celine graphic T-shirt with a pair of lightly distressed skinny jeans, and then topped off my look with stacked gold rings. Needless to say, I’m very thankful that my Valentino shoe envy has been cured just in time for back to school!

Get My Look: 1. Studded flats. 2. Black and white graphic T-shirt. 3. Stackable rings.
