STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Into Style

Spring is finally here and I couldn’t be more excited! Say goodbye to being bundled up all winter; it’s finally time to bust out the shorts, sandals, and crop tops. Spring style always seems more colorful and vibrant, with florals and fun patterns in bright colors. But with modern minimalistic style trends, and chic neutral outfits dominating this past winter, how can you mix fun spring colors and still be on trend?

This outfit I put together is my answer to that question. I’m a huge fan of the sleek black and white look that’s modern and put together, but I also have a weak spot for really unique and colorful patterns. So I was facing the dilemma of how I could mix both of those styles to create the perfect spring look.

I started with my statement piece, my red and blue patterned skirt. I’m in love with this skirt; I actually made it for my studio class last year and it’s by far the garment I’m most proud of making. I saw the fabric in a store and instantly became obsessed. The colors are bright and fun, perfect for spring. A mini pencil skirt is also super trendy right now. I paired the skirt with a basic black crop top and a white jean jacket to make the outfit more chic. The white jean jacket also works with the white in the skirt, making the outfit look more cohesive.

Then, to add even more color and make the outfit really pop, I wore my super cute yellow sandals. I wear these whenever I want to spice up a spring or summer look. Shoes are an easy way to make a statement, and can be a really cool accent point of any outfit. To finish off the look, I added some chic accessories and I’m ready to go. Wearing this outfit definitely put a spring in my step.
