STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Stripes

Like most Fashionistas, I live for runway shows; I just love seeing all the new styles. These shows actually give me outfit inspiration. The Sonia Rykiel resort 2016 runway show was full of fun colors and lots of stripes. I knew this would be something I could easily make work for me. This show lead me to create a springtime stripes outfit of my own.

In the spring, I absolutely love wearing dresses. To start my look, I chose a simple striped T-shirt dress. T-shirt dresses are so comfortable, they’re perfect for a long day of class, but are still nice enough to wear out to dinner. My dress features bold red and white stripes. Spring in Wisconsin means it could be 15 degrees colder than it was the day before, or even earlier that day! It can be frustrating at times, but that’s why I always wear a jean jacket. It will keep me warm if there’s a cool breeze, I can tie it around my waste if it’s warm and it matches with everything.

I wanted to keep the focus on my stripes so I kept accessories to a minimum. My purse also happened to be striped; just different colors that contrasted nicely with my dress. I am a big fan of statement necklaces. I chose a white flowered necklace that screams spring. It’s one of my favorite necklaces I own! As for shoes, I tend to go for comfort but with a bit of flair. My sparkly Steve Madden sandals are great for walking around campus and they are stylish!

Stripes are one of my absolute favorite patterns. There are so many varieties and options. When I saw the Sonia Rykiel resort 2016 runway show, I was inspired to create a striped springtime outfit of my own. I will definitely be rocking bright and bold stripes all season long.

Get My Look: 1. A striped dress. 2. A jean jacket. 3. Sparkly sandals.
