STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Prep

March 21st, 2016 at 2:00am

Varsity jackets, sailor collars and college sweaters are all staples of a preppy wardrobe. I would be lying if I denied my delight for a polished look. The thing is, it’s not just about the pieces but the representation the look gives. I can not tell you how many times my classic brown leather watch has driven me to to organize my planner or finally helped me begin an essay. There’s a little bit of a Spencer from Pretty Little Liars in all of us! This is because one of the biggest motivations to study is dressing the part, and of course no one does American prep better than Tommy Hilfiger. This collection will inspire the gorgeous stylist in you.

I was inspired by the pre-fall 2016 collection, where model Immy Waterhouse starred in the lookbook. I love the use of blue and red in this collection. He combined warm and cool colors to define a piece and truly has a way of creating a persona, transforming the clothes to a lifestyle brand. For my look, I wore a trench coat with a beige blouse, and what I love about it is the flared detail on the front; it really gives a fun delicate touch that reinvents the piece. I paired the blouse with a whimsically designed skirt, I personally think that the dark teal and the pink gives the look a lovely spring feel. Now there’s something groundbreaking for the season, a whimsical spring with a side of prep.

Whether you’re just ending your spring break or beginning it, this is a collection that will inspire you to finish this semester on a high note.

Get My Look: 1. Trench coat. 2. Blouse. 3. Pencil skirt.
