STYLE GURU STYLE: Spring Cleaning

Clean lines and clear cuts are usually always present in a collection presented by Burberry. After checking out their spring 2016 ready-to-wear show, I was really intrigued by how it had a rock and roll vibe to it without being too overwhelming. Their collection balanced lace, appliqué, leather, sheer fabrics and,of course, their classic coats. The collection was, overall, still urban-feeling, but had a more romantic effect. I wanted to try this for myself and get a look that consisted of clean lines with a soft edge.

It was, unfortunately, still cold outside on this spring day, so I decided against skirts and dresses. Instead, I opted for my black leather leggings, which I consider to be a staple piece in my wardrobe; they are great for fall and spring because they serve as a basic item of clothing without being boring. I based the rest of the outfit around my leggings, which helped me to achieve that urban look that was shown on the runway.

I wanted to keep the rest of my look simple in order to keep those clean lines, so I went with a graphic T-shirt on top. This is one of my favorite T-shirts for three reasons: it is a picture of Paul McCartney singing, it is probably the most comfortable thing I own and it is black and gray, so it goes with almost anything. I just love how light this T-shirt is and how well it complements my leather leggings.

As for the rest of the outfit, I wore black patent leather booties (which I wear more than anything else in my wardrobe). They are super comfortable to walk around in all day and they held up that rock and roll vibe. To complete my look, I wore my beige peacoat (because you cannot base a look on a Burberry collection without wearing a great coat). Since the coat is a light beige, I have been wearing it for multiple seasons. It is perfect for those warmer winter days as well as those cold spring days and is a classic piece that goes with pretty much everything. This coat helped to complete my look while keeping those lines clean.

Get My Look: 1. Black leather leggings. 2. A great graphic T-shirt. 3. A beige peacoat.
