STYLE GURU STYLE: Soccer Mom-Chic

There’s always one day of the week I keep fairly open and dedicate strictly for running errands. I call this my “soccer mom” day. One glance at my look and you should understand exactly why I call it that. My hair goes up; my mom cords come out and sunglasses are perked up on my head for the majority of the day.

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear show from Ralph Lauren portrays the look I’m trying to convey perfectly. I love the way the collection combines neutrals and bright colors. The collection also utilizes a variety of different texture combinations. I attempted to test my skill at combining different textures—faux leather and corduroy—in my outfit.

When you have a day for running errands like I do, you also have a special go-to outfit. Errand day is all about rushing around and not wasting time, so you shouldn’t be obsessing over what outfit you should throw on. Keep it classy, comfy and, overall, simple.

For this look, I grabbed my go-to cropped LOFT cords. You can swap them out for a distressed denim capri to achieve the “mom” look while still looking edgy. I tucked in a simple maroon button-up into my cords. You could tuck in a plain, loose T-shirt as well.

I threw a faux leather jacket on top to keep warm. Those soccer games get chilly as the sun goes down! These Sperry Top-Siders are my first choice when it comes to comfort as well. They are easy to slip on and are so comfortable. These sunglasses are perfect for blocking the rays and preventing premature wrinkles. They are snug on my face, so I know they won’t fall off when errand day starts to get a little crazy.

Get My Look: 1. Everyone needs a pair of LOFT cords in their closet. 2. Achieve soccer mom-chic with statement sunglasses. 3. A jacket to keep warm on chilly game days.
