STYLE GURU STYLE: Slightly Oversize Me

Time after time, J.Crew brings the chicest of all casual wear to attention. In the fall 2015 collection, there were brights, bolds and neutrals alike, together in harmony. The colors in this line actually caught my eye, and I now have all of the spring inspiration I need. However, I (of course) took an immediate likeness to the darkest piece in the entire collection—this coat.

For ages, I had my eye out for the perfect black longline coat, and I finally found it in the “tall” section for an extra chance at length. Although it may not appear that long here, the fit is just right. The oversized trend is sweeping runways by storm, and outerwear is its biggest victim. Coming right above the knees, a little too long on the arms and just loose enough to wear any amount of layers underneath—this coat is a recipe for the perfect staple piece in every wardrobe.

Though most of J.Crew’s line can be worn in both the office and outside—on the weekends, a T-shirt and ripped jeans are my go-to outfit. I like to forget all about structure. With this coat inspiration in mind, this time around, I decided to play up the ever so simple look by giving it some dimension. While a loose fitting striped T-shirt brings the “effortless” vibe to out to play, the oversized, relaxed and slightly structured fit of coat gives just the right amount of balance and lives up to J.Crew’s casual and chic expectations.

Get My Look: 1. The perfect coat. 2. T-shirt. 3. Sunnies.
