STYLE GURU STYLE: Simply Structured

Structured looks were all a part of the Alexis Mabille pre-fall 2016 collection. He created looks combining numerous structured coats with many soft flowy dresses, pants and tops. Many could consider it rather simple, but the combination of structure with softer elements make the looks a hit.

I took inspiration from this runway show for my look. To start, I added a pair of black fitted pants from Forever 21. Then I added a blue sweater from Forever 21 that wrapped around the front giving it an infinity scarf look.

To complete the look, I added a structured green army jacket from J.Crew that had quilted sleeves and a navy cuff. Then I paired a pair of gray stone riding boots. For my hair, I tried to keep it simple with some loose waves and a half-up half-down bun which has become an everyday go-to hair style of mine.

By combining the structure of the coat and boots with the softer element of the sweater and the hair, the outfit came together quite nicely. This look could be worn on a day out with the girls, to a dinner with the family or just a shopping day running errands. It’s simple but put together just like Alexis Mabille’s runway show.

Sometimes all you need to make a great look is something structured and then a softer, simpler element. You will always look well dressed following this style trend and it’s a trend that will stay around from season to season.
