STYLE GURU STYLE: Simple With a Hint of Ridiculousness

When people ask me to describe my style, I always find it difficult to pinpoint an exact definition. I like to rock a variety of styles, mostly because I like too many things. I like wearing anything from printed pants and heels to leggings with sneakers and a crew neck sweatshirt. I guess my style depends on my mood really. Some days I just want to be comfy, and other days I don’t mind a more “elaborate” outfit.

Overall, I like a simple outfit, but I like to add something ridiculous. Like these Gucci-inspired shoes I’m sporting here. I had been eyeing these bad boys for a while, but I obviously couldn’t scrape together roughly $1000. After scouring the internet for days, I found these for only $30! Finding an amazing deal like that is a key to my style. I like to get a good deal, while looking put together.

My outfit featured here includes my number one staple piece: my gray coat from Old Navy. This jacket can be worn either with a casual outfit with sneakers, or how I have it here, in a more “dressed-up” way. And I, of course, got it on sale for 50 percent off. It’s perfect for this cold Chicago weather! The next piece, my red velvet tank top, is also from Old Navy—can you tell I like Old Navy?  I can style this tank top with either a bralette like I have it here, or I can wear it over a black turtleneck. I’m also rocking my black high-rise jeans that I always wear. To top it all off, I added my ridiculous embroidered/faux fur-trim slippers. These may not appeal to everyone, but I think that’s why I’m drawn to them. I like for people to do a double-take at the statement shoes, or other statement pieces, I choose to wear.
