STYLE GURU STYLE: Simple Chic(k)

Hey, y’all I hope 2017 has been great so far and that you’ve kept your New Year’s resolutions. Speaking of resolutions, one of my goals for 2017 is to dress more feminine but at the same time looking professional, independent, and determined. Black is my power color, so I try to wear a lot of it. It’s bold, mysterious, and matched with everything. That reminds me of a funny quote from the cartoon Daria, “This is how deep people dress,” (while wearing black).

Let’s start with the main piece. It’s a one-piece bodysuit. Nothing screams determination and strength more than a simple, black jumpsuit. It complements the body and gives a vibe of “I know what I’m doing.” It can either be sleeveless if you’re living somewhere where it’s too hot or with long sleeves and probably a turtle neck if the weather is cold. I got mine from H&M on sale. It was around 25€. And that dear reader is called luck, straight from the fashion Gods.

Next, of we have the coat. Not just any coat, a faux fur coat. First of all, I don’t support wearing furs made out of animals and second, I am a university student so even If I wanted to I couldn’t afford a real fur. Plus, faux fur coats are trending so hot right now. Wouldn’t miss out on sporting one now that the weather still allows it. Anyway, I chose this pink, curly faux fur because like I said I still want to look feminine and kind of stand out. Wearing all the black might actually make you invisible.

You know what they say, “I see bold accessories as a woman’s armor,” -Rachel Zoe. I decided to use statement accessories. Simple but chic. You always need a bag to keep all your paraphernalia such as lipstick, concealer, a fragrance in a small bottle, and, of course, your phone and keys.

Since fur is in fashion, a black faux fur clutch. One that’s big enough to hold your stuff, will do the trick. I added a small silver bracelet. Shining has nothing to do with size. Although, you could pair your outfit with a huge statement necklace.

The shoes. Yes, the most important accessory of all. The shoes. I have always considered women who wear pointed toe stilettos to be the biggest business bosses. You can either wear a simple pair or a pair with details and crazy designs that will catch everyone’s attention.

That’s all for now, and may the fashion Gods be with you.
