STYLE GURU STYLE: Sexy Summer

Attention all Fashionistas/os: We made it! We made it through another school year. We survived another two semesters of never ending homework, constant assignments, tedious projects and of course, stressful exams. Now that finals are over, it’s time to focus on all things summer. But before we can dive into pool parties, bonfires and fro-yo dates, we need to get our style sorted. So put away the sweatpants you’ve been living in during finals week, and take a look at this.

Taking vague inspiration from Ronald van der Kemp’s spring 2016 couture collection, I put together a chic black outfit that will work in the hotter months. The Ronald van der Kemp show had several different bold looks, but this look in particular caught my eye. The slimming black dress gets a unique touch with it’s asymmetrical cut, and the black heels add to the chic factor.

In an attempt to translate the look into an everyday street style outfit, I rummaged through my closest and found this little black number. While my dress is not asymmetrical, it still vaguely has the same vibe. The dress manages to be both fitted and flowy at the same time. I paired the dress with a pair of black wedges to add a little bit of height. I accessorized with a gold necklace and two bracelets, one gold and one silver, to add depth to this simple look. In addition, I added a pair of gold hoop earrings. While the Ronald van der Kemp look I was basing my outfit on had emphasis on one statement necklace, I preferred to add several different accessories. For a pop of color on my lips, I swiped on Revlon matte balm in the shade “Fiery.”

These pieces all come together to create a clean, stylish look that is perfect for dressier events in the summer.
