STYLE GURU STYLE: Rockin’ Retro

Spring is in the air and everyone is super excited to break out their Converse. Pairing these sneakers with high-wasted shorts or dresses is a favorite among many Fashionistas for the warmer season. Comfy but cute is what designer Adam Selman was going for with his spring 2015 ready-to-wear line. All of his models strutted down the runway in white, low-top Converse. They are the must-have in every Fashionista/o’s closet. I personally love the high-top Chucks and have them in at least three different colors. What I loved about this collection was that it really reflected what Fashionista’s love to throw on to meet some friends for lunch, or a day outing full of fun activities with family. Adding a pop of color such as the yellow cross-body bag really brings out the idea of spring colors. The basic tops, T-shirt dresses and Converse are often forgotten, but they alone are cute and super chic.

I chose this particular look because I too have an addiction to T-shirt dresses. You can easily transition them from day to night. During the day, I can wear one with a pair of Converse sneakers, and when the sun goes down, I’ll throw on a pair of cute heels and a jacket for the chilly spring nights. I decided to recreate this look during one of Mother Nature’s once a week teases of 70-degree weather. With my graphic T-shirt dress, I added an oversized cardigan. Like some of the models in the show, I threw on my pair of white high-tops and added my favorite accessories: a fedora and a retro pair of shades. These gave my look the ultimate ’80s flare.

Adam Selman’s spring ready-to-wear collection really has me excited to clean out my closet and pack away all of my winter clothes and bust out the spring and summer wear. Out with the old in with the new. This line really showed me that you can turn something that seems so basic and make it a fun in the sun outfit by adding pop of color, comfy go-tos and adding a touch of personal flare!
