STYLE GURU STYLE: Resort Ready

Glowing suntanned skin, trendy new sunglasses and a mojito in hand. Vacations are always a breath of fresh air and a nice break from the hustle and bustle of college life. Even the fashion inspired by paradise is on-trend! Resort-style clothing has been a very popular theme on spring runways this season, and I for one can’t seem to get enough of it!

Hands down, my favorite resort runway show was Tory Burch resort 2016. It showcased a beautiful array of Southwestern floral, utility pants and beautifully natural hair and makeup. As much as I would love to wear all of those looks every day, it’s not realistic for the college student lifestyle. However, have no fear! I took my inspiration from the show and put together an outfit that will keep you on-trend and won’t break your budget!

The biggest feature for resort-style fashion is to make sure the look is not overly structured. You can dress it up with jewelry and accessories, but the main idea is to keep the look simple and relaxed.

White is always a go-to color for these looks, and it doubles as a perfect color to make your fresh tan pop! The blouse is loose, but features a baby-doll style cut and cinched sleeves that keep the look polished. Although many of the looks in the Tory Burch show featured beautiful utility style pants, to dress the look down I opted for a pair of distressed denim shorts.

Next, you want to ensure that you pick the perfect shoes. I paired the outfit with my favorite lace-up gladiator sandals from Forever 21. Not only are they super on-trend as I’ve been seeing shoes featuring lace-up ties all over the place, they are extremely comfortable for walking around all day.

When it comes to accessorizing, your options can vary! The Tory Burch show featured a very minimalist approach to accessories. A simple bag or watch complemented the outfit beautifully. I opted to accessorize lightly with a simple gold tusk necklace and neutral beaded bracelets.

Get My Look: 1. A bohemian-style blouse. 2. Distressed denim shorts or utility pants. 3. Gladiator shoes.
