STYLE GURU STYLE: Red Cape Coat

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear runway show from Dolce&Gabbana was stunning. The collection featured bright shaddes of red, dark blacks and neutral colors. Some styles included cape coats, empire-waist dresses and shift dresses. The different textures included fur, sequin embellishments and different graphic patterns. I’m not crazy about the color red, but this show made me want to try a cherry red cape coat!

This cape coat was an adventurous buy for me. I like its vintage element and bright color, but I was worried about pairing it with other colors. In this ensemble I paired it with a neutral tunic dress with a graphic pattern, black tights and black combat boots. The neutral colors pair perfectly with a bright pop of red and the graphic pattern gives my outfit depth without adding other eye-popping colors.

Since it’s still rather chilly on the east coast I decided to wear my UGGs earmuffs. These are also black and tie in perfectly with my outfit. My kate spade new york purse is mostly cream and black with a touch of magenta. Its mostly neutral coloring goes perfectly with my outfit.

The Dolce&Gabbana show inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and dive into the glorious world of red color! I was surprised to find that I love this color and will definitely buy more of it in the future! The cape coat was also a great purchase as it is stylish as well as warm!
